What this tumblr is about (for future reference):
The main purpose of this journal is to be a sort-of avenue for me to post pictures and reviews of books I have read this year. You see, I started 2010 with a list of 15 books initially. But then, after finishing 4 books in less than 2 months, I got encouraged to read more and to challenge myself further.
The thing is that I’ve always loved reading. I’ve read a couple of books that I enjoyed immensely. Some of them: Jane Austen, the Harry Potter series (what kid hasn’t?), some Paulo Coelho (made me miserable), Mario Puzo (I LOVE mafia stories), Antonia Fraser, Jeffrey Eugenides, and a few chic-lit like the Shopaholic series (because I can relate a bit).
Then college happened and my habit of reading stopped almost completely (I still had to read for my subjects). I don’t like being forced into anything and college forced me into almost everything. I had to read Rizal all over again (misery, once again. I read this in high school already, okay. I’m not being some unpatriotic brat), and a ton of philosophical material for my philosophy courses (all three of them, damn it). Reading became more of a chore rather than an enjoyable hobby. So the time I spent not reading was highly treasured and spent doing other things like taking pictures, watching movies, writing screenplays (all for school, still - but I enjoyed them nonetheless), eating and sleeping.
Now, I am out of school and pretty much a bum. I decided to pick up a book (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer - so glad I started with this) and after I was done, I picked up yet another one and another.. you get the idea.
So there. And since I do photography, I happen to enjoy taking pictures of books as well because they’re quite photogenic. And all those pictures will go here, in this little tumblr of mine, named so aptly after Constance Contraire, my favorite character from The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart.
Hope you enjoy!
